Art – Students in grades K through 8 study art each Friday. They learn about famous artists throughout the ages but spend most of their time creating original works of art. Each year’s art studies focus on the techniques and works of the time period students are learning about in history.
Music – Students in grades K through 8 study music with a curriculum based on the Kodaly method. They learn the fundamentals of music by listening, moving, singing, and working with manipulatives. Beginning in the middle of third grade, students begin learning to play recorders.
Students in grades 5 and 6 learn to play an instrument in NorthBay’s marching band.
Students in grades 7 and 8 participate in NorthBay’s praise and worship team.
Spanish – All students in grades K through 8 study Spanish weekly with a teacher who speaks the language fluently.
Physical Education – Students have physical education classes three days per week. They learn fitness as well as the fundamental skills needed for NorthBay’s after-school team sports – soccer, volleyball, basketball, pickleball, and flag football.
Drama – Students in grades K through 8 learn speech and drama through interactive drama games, improvisation, skits, and plays. 7th- and 8th-grade students participate in all aspects of the school’s spring production, including acting, directing, stage management, costume and set design, and light and sound tech.
